Edna Florence Reiter, 98, of Brighton, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Vitas Ruth Hospice, West Allis.
She was born Jan. 9, 1919, to Joseph and Laura (Richter) Daniels. A lifelong resident of Brighton Township, she graduated from St. Francis Xavier Grade School and Burlington High School. On Feb. 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to the late Wendolyn Reiter. Edna was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Bright 'N Busy Homemakers. She also served as a 4-H leader and played in multiple card clubs. Edna was an amazing cook and hostess, an extraordinary homemaker, and an excellent seamstress. Known for being caring and compassionate, she loved people and enjoyed friendly conversations.
Edna is survived by her children, Donna (Nick) Cordes, Dianne (Donald) Durkin, Elaine (Terry Duffy) Reiter, Darlene (Bernadette Elverman) Reiter, and daughter-in-law Roberta Reiter; grandchildren, Kevin (Lori) Cordes, Donald (Lou Ann) Cordes, Karen (Dan) Bursek, Wendy (Kent) Coleman, Denise Durkin, Dena Durkin, Dori (Brandon) Durkin Condon, Ronald (Amy Gibbs) Reiter, Steven (Delena) Reiter, David Reiter, Lori Reiter, and Lisa Reiter; great-grandchildren, Kyler, Kelcy, and Kassy Coleman, Vincent, Jarrett, and Drew Reiter, Bridget and Bethany Bursek. She is further survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Daniels, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son LeRoy Reiter, grandson Christopher Reiter, and siblings Lunetta Weis, Doris Mich, Laverne Drissel, Everett Daniels, and Loyola Wack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Brighton. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow service at St. Francis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
