Austin John Kotz, 74, of Dakota City passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Austin was born Feb. 27, 1941, in Presho, S.D., the son of Al and Mable (Knudtson) Kotz. He graduated from high school and attended two years of college. He married Viana Gallant. They later divorced.
He was a musician and manager of his own band. He also played in various other bands.
Survivors include his companion of 30 years, Bonnie Gaskill; his children, Austin Jr. (Winoa) Kotz of Isanti, Minn., John Kotz of Sioux City, Travis (Josephine) Kotz of Sioux City, Jason Kotz of Dakota City, Shirley (Scott) Miller of Lincoln, Neb., and Brenda (Tom) Lelander of Sioux City; three brothers, Jerry, Steve and Jim; a sister, Mary Kotz of Aberdeen, S.D.; 13 grandchildren, Dustin Miller, Patrick Miller, Austin Kotz III, Josie Young, Dian Kotz, Travis Kotz, Bentley Kotz, Willis Kotz, Jude Kotz, Davion Kotz, Matthew Leander, Marcus Leander and Thomas Leander; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Austin, Travis, Jason, Thomas, Marcus and Matt.
