Kathleen Ann McCarthy, 72, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 25, 1997.
She was born in Wheatland Township on July 29, 1925, to Werner and Mary (nee: Capello) Luke. She spent her early life in Wheatland Township, resided in New Munster following her marriage and had been a resident of Burlington since 1971. At St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster on February 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to James D. McCarthy, who preceded her in death on March 5, 1996.
She was educated in St. Alphonsus Grade School, New Munster and graduated from Burlington High School. Mrs. McCarthy and her husband farmed in New Munster. She was a Food Service Worker for Southern Wisconsin Center, retiring in 1989. She was a former member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster, Catholic Women Order of Foresters, and was a volunteer at St. Alphonsus. Kathleen was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a dear friend to many.
Surviving are three daughters, Ann M. (Steve) Voge of Union Grove, Carol J. (Gerald) Dexter of Burlington, Jane E. McCarthy of Madison; six sons, Dennis J. (Peggy) McCarthy of Paddock Lake, Steven W. (Toni) McCarthy of Burlington, Neil J. (Joan) McCarthy of Lexington. Ky., Patrick J. (Cindy) McCarthy of Stevens Point, Robert J. (Glenda) McCarthy of Brownwood, Texas, and Joseph E. (Terry) McCarthy of Burlington, 21 grandchildren; two sisters, Rose (John) Kerkman of Union Grove and Joyce Gallaher of California; two sisters-in-law, Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' Weis of Burlington and Sue McCarthy of Joliet, Ill.; one brother, Roman Luke of California; one brother-in-law, Lawrence Meyer of Union Grove; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Arlene Meyer; and two brothers, Robert Luke and William Luke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, Burlington, on Tuesday, September 30, 1997, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kim Studwell O.F.M. officiating. Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery on Tuesday following the service. Friends may call at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m., with a Prayer Vigil at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to Kenosha Hospice Alliance.
