Will Knoll, a young man of 20 years of age, and who has been employed as a farm hand at the home of John Weepie, living about four miles southwest of town, was found dead in the field Thursday, July 27. He had been shocking oats and at the noon hour, when he did not come to the house for dinner, Mr. Weepie went in search for him. He found him lying by a shock of oats and from appearances he had been dead about an hour. The coroner at Independence was notified and pronounced that death resulted from the heat. The body was removed to the home of his mother on the west side. Funeral services were held from the Catholic church Saturday at 11 o'clock and the body was buried in the Catholic cemetery.
