Bernard Gettler, 60, Chippewa Falls, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at his home after a courageous battle With cancer.
He was born in Chippewa Falls and attended school there, as well. In 1956 he entered the Navy and served four years.
On January 28, 1961 he was united in marriage to Diane Leduc. He was employed at the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. for many years and was a volunteer at Triniteam. Bernard enjoyed the outdoors and bowling.
Bernard is survived by his wife Diane; sons Richard (Victoria) Gettler, Brian (Brenda) Gettler; daughters Jennifer (Pete) Summers, Tina Gettler; brother Louis (Marry) Gettler and sisters Dorothy Figlemiller, Marie (Al) Krause, Dolores Seyforth, Yvonne (Gene) Doucette, Darlene Borten, Carole (Robert) Marsolek, seven grandchildren and many nephews and nieces, along with devoted dog Abby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Gertrude (Trebone) Gettler and sisters Joyce and Norma Gettler.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Missouri Synod Church, 110 East Grand Avenue, Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Gary Paul officiating.
The family has requested that no flowers be sent. The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is serving the family.
