Darlene Florence Borton, 72, of Eau Claire, passed away at her residence on Nov. 5, 2012.
Darlene was born in Chippewa Falls, on Nov. 28, 1939, to Louis and Gertrude (Trebon) Gettler. She graduated in 1958 from McDonell High School in Chippewa Falls, and was united in marriage to John Russell Borton on Jan. 10, 1959. Together, they had four children. John preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1973.
Darlene worked as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls during most of her younger years, and later worked for Northwest Wisconsin Home Care in Eau Claire for 24 years, where she retired in 2010. She was a very compassionate care giver and touched many lives. She always took great pride in her work. Darlene was also an avid doll collector, and very much enjoyed reading and watching the Green Bay Packers with her children and grandchildren.
Darlene is survived by: her two sons, Steve (Marcia) Borton and Scott (Kathy) Borton; two daughters, Elaine Borton and Donna (Jeff) Kolstad; a brother, Louis (Mary) Gettler; a sister, Carol (Bob) Marsolek; five grandchildren, Tara Borton, Annie (Geof) Liddle, Grace Borton, Christopher (Amanda) Borton, and Karen Borton; and one great grandchild, Evan Borton.
Darlene is preceded in death by: her parents, Louis and Gertrude Gettler; her husband, John Russell Borton; one brother, Bernie; and five sisters, Norma, Marie, Dorothy, Vonnie, and Delores.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Notre Dame in Chippewa Falls, with Father Mark Pierce officiating. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will take place at the Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.
