Jane married Robert Richter on Dec. 27, 1956 at St. Mary's in Rock Valley. They had six children who survive her. They were married 49 years until Robert's death in September of 2006.
Mrs. Richter, as she was known professionally, taught for 33 years, spending 26 of them in the same first-grade classroom. Mrs. Richter was proud to teach a second generation of students, often welcoming the children of her former pupils into her classroom.
After retiring in 1994, Jane embraced her passions for travel, quilting, and time with her grandchildren. Alongside her sister, Mary Ellen, she explored destinations like Australia, Rome, Switzerland, Germany, and numerous U.S. landmarks. An award-winning quilter, Jane relished attending quilting shows nationwide.
Jane is survived by her six children: Mark (Tina) Richter of Davenport, IA; Steve Richter of Rock Valley; Margaret (Antonio) Chavez of Fort Worth, TX; Mary (John) Reap of Flower Mound, TX; Greg (Teri) Richter of Rock Valley; and Tim (Diane) Richter of Bentonville, AR. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, who were her greatest pride and joy.
