Harry P. Barbian, 94, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at his home. He was born January 25, 1911, in Wheatland Township to Nicholas and Mary E. (nee Altoff) Barbian. He spent his early life in Wheatland Township and attended St. Alphonsus Catholic School in New Munster. On January 21, 1939, in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Irene M. Kretschmer. Following marriage they resided in Burlington where Harry has been a resident for the past 66 years. He was employed as a truck driver for JW Peters until his retirement in 1973. Harry was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Barbian of Burlington; children, Dennis (Carol) Barbian of Missoula, Mont., Dale (Brenda) Barbian of Newport News, Va., David (Linda) Barbian of Grants Pass, Ore., Darlene Barbian-Zarnstorff of Burlington, and Dean (Jane Brewer) Barbian of Racine. He is further survived by 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son; brothers, Leo, Frank, Ray, and Jack Barbian; sisters, Dora Lenz and Florence Wilson; and by sisters and brothers -in law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Burlington with Rev. Joseph Debski officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Tuesday, August 23, 2005, from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Memorials to St. Mary's Parish in Burlington or Hospice Alliance Inc. in Kenosha have been suggested.
