Clarance B. Bird, 92, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 15, 2001.
He was born on May 24, 1909, to Walter and Margaret (nee: McCourt) Bird. He spent his early life in Rochester. He was united in marriage to Helen Rubach in Burlington on June 30, 1930. Following their marriage, they resided in the Town Of Dover where they remained lifetime residents. She preceded him in death on October 25, 1976.
He was a graduate of Rochester Graded and Burlington High School. He worked as a Farmer. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Burlington where he served on numerous church and school boards. He also served on the United Presbyterian Cemetery Board.
Surviving are his nine children, Judith (John) Schwartz of Walworth, Virginia (Robert) Wollmer of Kansasville, Sandra (Curtis) Gonsky of Burlington, David (Marluce) Bird of Pasadena, Calif., Thomas (Mary) Bird of Burlington, Carol (Mark) Steilein of Union Grove, Johnathan (Karen) Bird of Waterford, Timothy (Rozanne) Bird of Burlington, and Phillipo (Diane) Bird of Harvard, Ill.; 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; one brother, James; and one sister, Catherine Noble.
Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Burlington on Wednesday, September 19, 2001, at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Kurt Loescher officiating. Interment will be held at United Presbyterian Cemetery, on Wednesday, following the service. Friends may visit at the Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 18, 2001, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorials have been suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church of Burlington or the American Cancer Society.
