GRANDMA TRIBON NO MORE; OLD AGE CAUSE Of DEATH

 

Mrs. Mary Tribon died Friday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Lampright, after an illness of several years. The cause of her death was old age.

Mrs. Tribon, whose maiden name was Mary Eichhorst, was born in Germany on February 2, 1825. She married Joseph Tribon in 1849, and five years later emigrated with him to the United States. To make the journey they were obliged to borrow $100 for the family's fare, and then they crossed in a sailing ship, which took eleven weeks for the voyage.

There were eleven children in the family, five of whom are now dead. Mr. Tribon died 20 years ago: Mrs. Tribon left six living children, 39 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. The six children living are: Mrs. Mary Lampright, Algona; Dr. F. L. Tribon, Algona; Dr. Joe Tribon, Independence; Dr. A. L. Tribon, Sumner; Mrs. Christine Renz, Dunkerton; and Mrs. Dan Trumbauer, Dunkerton. The body was taken to Independence for burial Monday.

Mrs. Tribon Dead.
The death of Mrs. Mary Tribon occurred at the home of her children in Algona last Friday. She was born in West Prussia, Germany, Feb. 2, 1825, and was in her ninety-seventh year. She was married to Joseph Tribon in 1847 and came with her husband and family to America in 1854. They settled at first in Wisconsin and later came to this county and located at what was known at that time as the "Forks." She was one of the early settlers of this county, having come here in 1861. Her husband died Jan. 19, 1894. She was the mother of 12 children, seven of whom are living. The funeral was at Littleton Monday and the burial was there.

DEATH OF AGED LADY.
Mrs. Mary Tribon Passed Away Friday Of Old Age.— Burial at Independence Monday.
The hearts of friends and relatives were saddened on Friday evening when Mrs. Mary Tribon passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Lampright, where she has lived for the past seven years. Her death was the result of old age.
Her maiden name was Mary Eickhorst. She was born in Germany February second, 1825. She married Joseph Tribon in 1894. Five years later the family decided to immigrate to America which has been pictured to them in glowing colors. In order to make the trip the family were compelled to borrow one hundred dollars to pay for their passage. The trip was made in a sail ship and the voyage consumed eleven weeks. One of the children died during the trip and was buried at sea.
Mr. Tribon was called to his reward about twenty years ago. Two of the children died in infancy and three others also passed beyond to await the coming of their mother.
Mrs. Tribon is survived by six children, thirty-nine grand children, twenty-four great grand children and four great, great grand children. The children are Mrs. Mary Lampright, Algona; Dr. Joe Tribon, Inderendence, and Dr A. L. Tribon, Sumner, veterinarians; Mrs. Christine Renz, Dunkerton; Mrs. Dan Trumbauer, Dunkerton; Dr. F. L. Tribon, Algona.
The remains were taken to Independence, Iowa, where funeral services were held Monday.
