SISTER AUSTIN KOTZ

Sister Austin Kotz, 86, a Sister of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, died March 20, 2003, at Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be March 24, 2003, in Blessed Sacrament Chapel at Presentation Convent. Reverend Ben Benzinger will be celebrant.

A wake service will be Sunday, March 23 in Blessed Sacrament Chapel with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m.

Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Aberdeen. Spitzer-Osthus Funeral Home, 320 Sixth Avenue, will be in charge of arrangements.

Agnes May (Sister Austin) Kotz was born June 2, 1916, at Presho, S.D. to Catherine Kapperman and Henry Kotz. She grew up in that area and graduated from elementary and high school in Presho. She attended the American Institute of Commerce in Davenport, Iowa, in 1936. She entered Presentation Convent in 1942 and made her vows on August 10, 1945.

Sister Austin ministered at Avera St. Luke's in Aberdeen, Avera Queen of Peace, Mitchell, and Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, Mont., in Medical Records from 1945 to 1973. She served at St. Thomas School in Madison as librarian and did volunteer work in the parish. In 1991 she retired to Presentation Heights until her death.

Sister Austin is survived by her community family of Presentation Sisters and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

One sister, Frances Regennitter, lives in Kadoka, S.D.
