Dr. Joseph Tribon, 98, retired Veterinarian and one of this community's eldest residents, died Monday afternoon, May 9 at Sumner Community Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past month.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (May 12) at 2 p.m. at Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church with the pastor, Rev. Lynn J. King, officiating. There will be a prayer service at the church at 1:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Littleton Cemetery. The casket will be taken to the church at noon by Emerson-Gersonde Chapel.
Joseph Tribon was born near Fairbank, Iowa on January 29, 1870, the son of Joseph and Mary Eichhorst Tribon.
He married Anna Barbara Nuffer at Hills, Minnesota in 1897 and the couple farmed near Fairbank until 1915 and they moved to a farm south of Sumner in 1919. In later years they retired in Sumner.
Dr. Tribon had been a Veterinarian since 1907.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Hoffner of Cedar Falls and a son, Clifford Tribon of Oran; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, May 20, 1946, a daughter, Rachael, (Mrs. Arthur Partridge) in 1964, his parents, four sisters and three brothers.
